About the Questions ... Ok, so technically, these questions haven't been 'frequently' asked ... yet. But having worked with webmasters for some years now, I have a fair idea of the kind of questions that will come up. I'll add to this page as the need develops. In the meantime, if you have questions not addressed here or in the Rules, feel free to email me. I've numbered these for easy reference. |
| 1. | Why so few categories? | |
| Hmmmm ... well ... if you notice, many of the links don't fit easily into a single category so I lump them together. If I don't have a category that you think I should have, feel free to suggest in the Alt Category field of the account application. If I get enough request, I'll add new ones as they're needed. | ||
| 2. | Why do you need my email address? | |

I need your address so I can contact you about any problems I might have with your site or listing. If I write you and it bounces, I'll try the alternate email address (if you gave one) If I can't contact you, I drop your listing. Your email address is also how you retrieve your password when you forget it.
I do NOT send spam and I do NOT share your address with anyone. |

| 3. | Why can't I make up my own text links? | |
| Since my list is ranked by number referrals not allowing 'creative' text links help keep things fair to all. Experience teaches me that if I didn't have this rule, a certain element would send referrals via blind links and other less than honest ways. | ||
| 4. | Why is my site listed if I never submitted? | |
| I've maintained a links list on SecretOfLife since I opened it. When I installed the script, I carried over many of the links from the old list. Some of the links I keep because I think the sites are of interest to my visitors. If you're already listed but want to participate in the exchange of traffic so you get a higher ranking, just drop me an email with the name and URL of your site and I'll pass on the login info so you can get the correct linking code. | ||

What do you mean by, "You are responsible for any consoles opened by a console you open"? |

| What this means is that if you open a console to a sponsor and that sponsor opens a lot of other consoles, your listing could be suspended for excessive use of consoles. This included consoles opened by your free host. Yes, I know you have limited control, but the surfer has less. Use consoles responsibly. | ||
| 6. | What is 'Site of the Moment'? | |
| Each time the system reranks the list, it randomly picks one of the participating sites and makes it 'Site of the Moment' on the main page. Each catagory page has a 'Site of the Moment' picked randomly from sites within that category. This is just my way to help all participating sites get some extra exposure. | ||
| 7. | Why do you ask for a description and banner if they don't show with my listing? | |
| Both are used by the 'Site of the Moment' feature. An accurate description is required to be listed at all, a banner is not. | ||
| 8. | How is the list ranked? | |
| Every 4 hours the list reranks based on the previous period's valid referrals. | ||
| 9. | My hits in dropped to zero and I dropped down the list. What happened? | |
| Once per week, all counters are reset to zero. I do this to help even things out. | ||
| 10. | Do I have to put your link on my main page? | |
| Nope. I feel that you, as webmaster, should be able to decide on the best place to put links. As my list is ranked by the number of referrals you send, the more you send the better placement (and likely, more return traffic) you will get. As long as you're sending some return traffic, you can decide on your best level of participation. If you go for periods of sending no referrals, your account is deemed inactive and subject to removal. | ||
